NTT Group to Showcase Advanced Optical and AI Technologies at MWC Barcelona 2026

NTT Group Returns to MWC Barcelona with Focus on Photonics and AI

The NTT Group, comprising NTT, Inc., NTT DOCOMO, INC., and NTT DATA Group Corporation, has announced its joint exhibition at MWC Barcelona 2026, scheduled to take place from March 2 to March 5, 2026. This marks the group's first combined presence at the world's largest connectivity event in seven years, since 2019. The exhibition will be held in Barcelona, Spain, at the Fira Gran Via in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat.

Under the overarching theme, 'Photonics Unlocks an Intelligent Power-Optimized Future,' the NTT Group aims to showcase its technological capabilities and foster deeper connections with leading global companies. This initiative follows a corporate identity (CI) renewal on July 1, 2025, and is designed to strengthen the group's global brand presence and expand its international business.

Key Technologies and Solutions on Display

The NTT Group's showcase will center on its IOWN optical technologies, which are designed to address the anticipated rise in energy consumption driven by the expanding use of artificial intelligence. The exhibition will feature solutions aimed at advancing low-power consumption.

Exhibits will be organized around two primary themes:

  • 'AI-Resilient Infrastructure with Photonics': This section will highlight developments in optical networking, photonics-electronics convergence for improved data center energy efficiency, optical quantum computing, and the application of AI within future 6G mobile networks, including DOCOMO's 'Network for AI' concept.
  • 'AI-Powered Services and Solutions': This area will present initiatives and solutions driving global transformation across corporate activities and industries. It will feature NTT DATA's Agentic AI solution, a DOCOMO platform enabling remote robot operation and autonomous control through Physical AI, DOCOMO's new personal AI agent, and AI-driven solutions for immersive entertainment experiences.

Leadership Insights and Event Significance

Akira Shimada, President and CEO of NTT, is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. His presentation will emphasize the transformative potential of IOWN's optical technologies for reducing power consumption and will introduce key initiatives such as the commercialization of photonics-electronics convergence devices and the development of optical quantum computers.

MWC Barcelona 2026 is recognized as the largest and most influential connectivity event globally, attracting over 88,000 participants from more than 200 countries. It serves as a crucial platform for mobile operators, device manufacturers, technology providers, and tech enthusiasts to explore cutting-edge innovations and trends in the mobile industry.
