Allan Saint-Maximin Departs Club America Citing Racist Incidents Against His Children

French Winger Leaves Mexican Club Over Racism Allegations

French footballer Allan Saint-Maximin has officially departed Mexican club Club America, with the decision stemming from racist incidents directed at his children. The 28-year-old winger's exit, announced around February 1-2, 2026, marks an abrupt end to his tenure in Mexico, which began in August 2025.

Player's Emotional Statement on Social Media

Saint-Maximin took to Instagram to share his reasons for leaving, expressing a strong stance against the discrimination his family faced. In a poignant post, he stated, 'The problem isn't skin colour, it's the colour of people's thoughts.' He further emphasized his priority, saying, 'I'm not bothered by attacks. I've grown up, I've learned to fight back against attacks, whether they're subtle, hidden, or overt. But there's one thing I will never tolerate: attacks on my children.' He concluded his message with a firm declaration: 'Protecting my children is my priority, and I will fight with all my might to ensure they are respected and loved, regardless of their background or skin colour. Hate and discrimination have no place in our society.' Neither Saint-Maximin nor Club America provided specific details regarding the nature of the racist incidents.

Club America Condemns Discrimination

Club America acknowledged Saint-Maximin's departure and the reasons behind it, issuing a statement of solidarity with the player and his family. The club reiterated its 'strong condemnation of any act of discrimination and/or violence that violates human dignity, both on and off the field.' Club America's coach, André Jardine, also addressed the situation, expressing regret. 'It's regrettable that an act of racism occurred against his daughters, something that had already happened more than once. It was something he wouldn't tolerate, and we condemn it,' Jardine stated.

Brief Stint in Mexico and Future Plans

During his approximately six-month spell with Club America, Saint-Maximin made 15 to 16 appearances across all competitions, contributing three goals and a handful of assists. He had initially joined the Mexican side on a two-year contract for a reported fee of $12 million. Following his departure from Mexico, Allan Saint-Maximin is reportedly set to return to France, with RC Lens being his next destination on a free transfer.

Absolutely the right decision. Family comes first, always.

The club's condemnation of racism is important, but one wonders if stronger preventative measures or immediate support systems could have been in place to avoid such a drastic outcome for the player and his family.

Leaving after just six months? What about his contract obligations?

Good for Saint-Maximin standing up for his children. Racism has no place in sports or anywhere.

This hurts the league's reputation without a proper investigation.
