Second Arrest Made in DJ Warras Assassination
Gauteng Police have announced a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the assassination of popular media personality Warrick 'DJ Warras' Stock, confirming the arrest of a second suspect. The 25-year-old Mozambican national was apprehended on the evening of Friday, January 30, 2026, during a Crime Intelligence-led operation in the Marathon informal settlement in Primrose, located on Gauteng's East Rand.
According to Brigadier Brenda Muridili, spokesperson for Gauteng Police, the suspect is believed to be the shooter in the December 2025 incident. He is expected to appear in court on Monday, February 2, 2026, facing charges of murder and contravention of the Immigration Act. The operation that led to the arrest was a collaborative effort by the Gauteng Serious and Violent Crimes Investigation's Provincial Investigation Unit (PIU), Crime Intelligence, and Ekurhuleni Metro Police.
Details of DJ Warras's Murder
Warrick Stock, widely known as DJ Warras, was fatally shot on December 16, 2025. The 40-year-old DJ and businessman was gunned down outside a building near the Carlton Centre in Johannesburg's central business district (CBD). Reports indicate that he had just parked his vehicle outside a building known as Zambesi House when he was approached by three unknown men who opened fire before fleeing the scene.
Police noted that nothing was stolen from Stock, despite him having an unused firearm, leading investigators to believe the killing was targeted. It was also reported that Stock had obtained a protection order in November 2025 on behalf of himself, his employees, and his company, Imperium Ops International, related to his involvement with security at a hijacked building.
First Arrest and Bail Denial
This latest arrest follows the earlier apprehension of Soweto taxi boss Victor Majola, also known as Victor Mthethowakhe Majola, who was arrested six days after Stock's murder. Majola is accused of orchestrating the assassination.
Majola was denied bail on January 26, 2026. The magistrate cited reasons for the denial, including conflicting addresses provided by Majola and an untested alibi regarding his whereabouts on the day of the murder. The state presented a strong case against Majola, highlighting his positive identification at an ID parade and a witness who saw him seated near the crime scene with the shooter. Furthermore, Stock's car details, including his address and that of his partner, along with pictures of the deceased, were reportedly found on Majola's phone.

Justice for DJ Warras is slowly coming. Relieved to see arrests.

The police deserve credit for these arrests, especially with the evidence against Majola. Yet, the connection to hijacked buildings suggests a dangerous network that needs to be fully dismantled, not just individual arrests.

Another high-profile case, let's see if it actually leads to a conviction.

They always catch the small fish first. The big ones always get away.

One arrest doesn't fix the massive crime problem we have here.
