A man in his 50s was pronounced dead at the scene following a two-car collision on the R215 at Newtownfane, Dundalk, Co. Louth, on Sunday, January 25, 2026. The incident occurred at approximately 2:50 PM. Gardaí and emergency services responded to the crash site.

The male driver of one of the vehicles, aged in his 50s, was confirmed deceased at the scene. His body has been transported to Louth County Hospital, where a post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place. The coroner has been notified.
A second man, also in his 50s, who was involved in the collision, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda. His injuries are described as non-life-threatening.
