Sergeant Adama Jagne Testifies Before National Assembly Committee
Sergeant Adama Jagne, an officer of The Gambia Armed Forces attached to the Motor Transport Control (MTC), recently made a significant admission before a National Assembly committee. On Tuesday, September 30, 2025, Sergeant Jagne testified that he cannibalized government vehicles that were parked at the Mechanical Services Agency (MSA) in Kotu.
Vehicles Identified as Former President Jammeh's Assets
The vehicles in question were part of a collection identified by the Janneh Commission as assets belonging to former President Yahya Jammeh. Sergeant Jagne's role at the MSA in Kotu was specifically to secure and look after these assets.
Deployment and Security Concerns
During his testimony, Sergeant Jagne explained that his deployment to the Kotu site was not formalized in writing. He received verbal instructions from the late Dawda Fadera, who was then the Secretary General, to secure Jammeh's assets. Fadera reportedly informed the Inspector General of Police about the arrangement, leading to the deployment of six Police Intervention Unit (PIU) officers to assist Jagne. Jagne further clarified that there was 'no security at the Kotu premises at the time,' and his responsibility was to 'control and protect the vehicles.'
Ongoing Investigation into Asset Disposal
The National Assembly committee before which Sergeant Jagne testified is a Special Select Committee tasked with investigating the sale and disposal of assets identified by the Janneh Commission. Jagne's admission forms part of this broader inquiry into how these government-identified assets were managed.

Where are the real culprits? This guy is just a small fish.

This admission brings some clarity to how these assets were mishandled, which is a positive development for the Janneh Commission. Nevertheless, it raises serious questions about the overall integrity of the asset protection process and who else was involved or negligent.

Hope this leads to full justice for the Gambian people.

Verbal instructions? That's a pathetic excuse for theft.

This whole asset management system is clearly a joke.
