Iconic Store Returns to Original Ginza Location

Apple marked a significant milestone in its retail history in Japan with the grand reopening of its iconic Apple Ginza store on Friday, September 26, 2025. The store, which was Apple's first retail location outside the United States when it originally opened in 2003, has returned to its initial site in Tokyo's vibrant Ginza district, specifically the Sayegusa Building.

The original Apple Ginza store was demolished in 2022, leading to a temporary relocation. Now, the newly rebuilt structure at 3-5-12 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, features a completely reimagined four-story design.

Sustainable and Modern Design Elements

The new Apple Ginza store showcases a thoughtful blend of modern architecture and traditional Japanese aesthetics. Its design incorporates a double-skin glass façade with adaptive louvers, which efficiently regulate light and temperature throughout the day. The interior features regionally sourced materials and warm wooden paneling, reflecting Japanese design principles. The layout is engineered to maximize natural light, offering balcony-like spaces that provide views of the bustling Ginza streets.

Emphasizing Apple's commitment to environmental responsibility, the store's operations are powered entirely by 100 percent renewable energy. Furthermore, the building has undergone significant seismic upgrades, enhancing its structural integrity to withstand potential earthquakes, a crucial feature in Tokyo. Accessibility has also been a key consideration, with varied table and seating heights to accommodate all customers.

Showcasing Latest Innovations and Community Engagement

Customers visiting the reopened Apple Ginza can explore Apple's full range of products, including the latest innovations such as iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3, Apple Watch SE 3, and AirPods Pro 3. The store also offers a variety of accessories, including the iPhone Air Bumper, iPhone Air Case with MagSafe, and the new Crossbody Strap. Services like the Genius Bar and personalized setup sessions are readily available.

To celebrate the reopening, Apple Ginza is offering a special-edition Apple Gift Card for a limited time. A unique 'Today at Apple Spotlight' session is also being launched in collaboration with Japanese supergroup Number_i, focusing on Spatial Audio and spatial video through their single 'U.M.A.' This session will be exclusive to Apple Ginza initially before expanding to other stores across Japan starting October 11. Visitors can also book one-on-one demonstrations of Apple Vision Pro.
