Rohit Sharma Returns to Nets Ahead of Australia ODI Series

Indian ODI skipper Rohit Sharma has returned to net practice in preparation for the upcoming ODI series against Australia, scheduled for October. The series will be held in Australia.

Rohit shared a video on his Instagram, showcasing his practice session and some impressive shots. The Indian captain expressed his enthusiasm for resuming training. He stated that it felt good to be back.

The 38-year-old opener appeared to be in good form and looked physically fit, which is encouraging for India as they prepare for the challenging tour.

In May, Rohit announced his retirement from Test cricket before India's ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 tour of England. From 2013 to 2025, he played 67 Tests for India, scoring 4,301 runs with an average of 40.57, including 12 centuries and 18 half-centuries. His performance as an opener from 2019 to 2024 was particularly strong, and he was once India's leading run-scorer in the ICC WTC Tests, with 2,716 runs in 40 Tests at an average of 41.15, featuring nine centuries and eight half-centuries.

Rohit, along with Virat Kohli, who have both retired from T20I and Test cricket, will now be seen playing in a three-match series against Australia starting on October 19.

Rohit is considered an all-time great in ODIs, with 11,168 runs in 273 matches at an average of 48.76 and a strike rate of 92.80, including 32 centuries and 58 half-centuries. He is India's fourth-highest run-scorer in ODIs.

He also has a strong ODI record in Australia, with 1,328 runs in 30 matches at an average of 53.12 and a strike rate of over 90, including five centuries and four half-centuries, with a top score of 171.
