Former Representative Blake Farenthold, who had departed Congress due to sexual harassment allegations, has passed away at the age of 63. His death was confirmed by his former political consultant, Steve Ray, who cited health reasons in an email.
Farenthold's wife, Debbie Farenthold, also verified his passing, stating that he died on Friday. He had been elected to Congress in 2010, defeating the long-standing Democratic Representative Solomon Ortiz.
After serving for seven years, Farenthold announced his decision not to seek reelection. At that time, he addressed accusations made by a former aide, which included allegations of sexually suggestive behavior and comments. He denied these accusations in a video posted on his campaign's Facebook page. He did, however, apologize for the unprofessional atmosphere within his office.
Following his departure from Congress, Farenthold launched his own radio show, which he continued to host until his death.

The timing of his death brings to attention once more the importance of believing and supporting victims of sexual assault.

It's impossible to separate his death from the accusations. Focusing on the victims is proper and appropriate.

While the loss of life is always sad, the allegations against Farenthold can't be ignored. Condolences to the victims.

Politics aside, it’s still a loss for the human race to lose someone.

While condolences are offered, it's difficult to forget the pain inflicted on his accusers. Accountability, even in death, is important.
