The European Commission has officially opened the latest application round for DiscoverEU, an initiative under the Erasmus+ program. Young residents of Iceland who are 18 years old are invited to apply for the chance to receive a free travel pass to explore Europe. This program aims to provide young people with the opportunity to experience the continent's diversity, learn about its cultural heritage, and connect with peers from across Europe.

Program Details and Eligibility

The DiscoverEU initiative is designed to encourage sustainable travel, primarily by rail. Selected participants will receive a travel pass that allows them to travel across Europe for a period ranging from one day to 30 days. To be eligible, applicants must meet specific criteria set by the European Commission:

• Must be 18 years old on the date specified in the application round.
• Must be a legal resident of an Erasmus+ program country, including Iceland.
• Must complete the application process via the European Youth Portal.
