Tragic Workplace Fatality in Naxxar
Robert Micallef, a 34-year-old man from Qormi and a father of two, tragically lost his life on Monday, March 2, 2026, following a forklift accident in Naxxar, Malta. The incident occurred at approximately 10:00 AM at a warehouse located on Triq Burmarrad.
Micallef was reportedly operating the forklift when he was struck by the machinery. Emergency services, including a medical team and members of the Civil Protection Department, were immediately dispatched to the scene. Despite their rapid response, Micallef was pronounced dead at the site of the accident.
Investigations Underway
Following the incident, Magistrate Franco Agius was informed and has initiated a magisterial inquiry to ascertain the precise circumstances leading to the fatality. Concurrently, the Police and the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA) have launched their own investigations into the workplace accident.
The Police Response Team and the Victim Support Unit are providing assistance to Micallef's grieving relatives during this difficult time.
