Significant Gold Discovery at AurMac Project
Banyan Gold Corp. (TSX-V: BYN, OTCQB: BYAGF) has reported a significant discovery of high-grade gold mineralization at its AurMac Project in Yukon, Canada. The mineralization was intersected at an approximate vertical depth of 350 meters within the project's Airstrip Deposit, marking a substantial extension of known gold zones.
The announcement, made on February 8, 2026, highlights promising drill results that indicate the Airstrip deposit remains open down-dip and at depth.
Key Drill Intercepts and Exploration Potential
The recent drilling campaign yielded several notable intercepts, underscoring the high-grade nature of the discovery:
- Drill hole AX-25-817 returned 1.37 g/t gold over 38.0 meters, including a high-grade interval of 15.87 g/t gold over 2.2 meters. This hole represents a significant 350-meter down-dip step-out from previous intersections.
- Additional strong results include AX-25-799, which intersected 7.04 g/t gold over 6.0 meters within a broader zone of 0.68 g/t gold over 125.5 meters, featuring high-grade intervals of 29.30 g/t gold over 1.4 meters.
- Drill hole AX-25-807 reported 1.93 g/t gold over 10.4 meters and 1.00 g/t gold over 36.1 meters within an overall intersection of 0.64 g/t gold over 145.5 meters.
Tara Christie, President and CEO of Banyan Gold, commented that the high-grade mineralization in hole AX-25-817 'highlights the promising exploration targets at depth, potentially associated with a deep-seated magmatic source for mineralization'. Duncan Mackay, VP Exploration, added that these findings suggest potential for additional mineralization in multiple calcareous metasedimentary horizons and could extend the conceptual pit boundaries, potentially connecting the Airstrip and Powerline deposits.
The AurMac Project: A Growing Gold Resource
The AurMac Project, Banyan Gold's flagship asset, is situated in the Mayo Mining District of central Yukon, approximately 40 kilometers northeast of Mayo. The project spans over 291 square kilometers and benefits from excellent infrastructure, including the main Yukon highway, a 3-phase powerline, and existing power stations.
As of June 28, 2025, the AurMac Project boasts a substantial Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) of 2.274 million ounces of indicated gold (112.5 million tonnes at 0.63 g/t) and 5.453 million ounces of inferred gold (280.6 million tonnes at 0.60 g/t), totaling 7.7 million ounces across its Airstrip and Powerline zones. This latest deep discovery further enhances the project's potential for resource expansion.

The high-grade gold intercepts are certainly exciting for investors and demonstrate the project's potential. However, reaching gold at 350 meters depth will present considerable engineering challenges and likely higher operational costs.

What about the environmental cost? Gold isn't worth it.

Deep mining means more damage. This is a disaster waiting to happen.
