IMS Highlights Diversity Charter Luxembourg at Networking Event

IMS Event Spotlights Diversity Charter in Luxembourg-Ville

On Tuesday, January 20, 2026, the non-profit organization Inspiring More Sustainability (IMS) hosted a significant networking event and workshop dedicated to the Diversity Charter Luxembourg. The gathering took place at the premises of Société Générale Luxembourg in Luxembourg-Ville, drawing together event hosts, current signatories of the Charter, and other interested parties for a lively networking lunch and informative sessions.

Discussions on Diversity and Future Initiatives

The event commenced with a welcoming address from Aurelia Ederle, Human Resources Director at Société Générale Luxembourg, who emphasized the shared responsibility and opportunity to foster inclusive workplaces where individuals feel valued. Following this, Pricilla Talbot, IMS Project Manager, provided an overview of IMS's activities in 2025, including seventeen events and the 6th edition of the Diversity Awards. The program for 2026 was then unveiled, featuring online events on topics such as pay transparency, gender equality, non-discrimination, LGBTQIA+ tools, and micro-aggressions. In-person events planned for the year include diversity networks and the 'Empow(her)ing Journey' Summit. Gabriela Guerrero, Diversity Charter Project Manager, highlighted the importance of Diversity Day, scheduled for May 13, 2026, as a platform for organizations to celebrate diversity and stand against discrimination.

Understanding the Diversity Charter Luxembourg

The Diversity Charter Lëtzebuerg is a national commitment text designed for any organization in Luxembourg wishing to actively promote and manage diversity beyond legal obligations. Initiated by IMS Luxembourg in 2012, it is structured around six articles that guide organizations in implementing practices to foster social cohesion and equity. As the ninth Charter in the European Union, it is an integral part of the European network of Diversity Charters, overseen by the European Commission's DG Justice. The Charter has garnered substantial support, with over 325 signatories from public, private, and voluntary sectors, collectively representing approximately 22% of Luxembourg's payroll. It is supported by seven privileged private and public partners, including Deutsche Bank Luxembourg, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Diversity, PwC, Linklaters, CACEIS Investor Services Bank, Sodexo, and HSBC Luxembourg.

IMS: A Catalyst for Sustainability and Inclusion

IMS – Inspiring More Sustainability – has been a leading network for Corporate Responsibility in Luxembourg since its establishment in 2007. As an independent, apolitical, and non-profit organization, IMS aims to inspire responsible strategies and practices among national economic actors. Its mission encompasses projects across three interconnected pillars: People (including diversity & inclusion, health & wellbeing), Planet (e.g., decarbonation, biodiversity), and Prosperity (e.g., responsible consumption). The organization plays a crucial role in providing expertise, concrete solutions, and awareness to its members, who collectively represent nearly 25% of Luxembourg's payroll.

The emphasis on diversity networks and tools is a positive step towards creating more inclusive workplaces. Yet, it's crucial that these initiatives don't become exclusive clubs themselves, inadvertently leaving out those who most need support or understanding.

It's great that Luxembourg is part of a European network for diversity charters, showing a commitment to shared values. However, each country has unique challenges, and a 'one size fits all' approach from a European framework might not always be the most effective for local contexts.

Luxembourg still has so many inequalities. These events feel like a band-aid.

Sounds like a lot of corporate virtue signaling. Where are the concrete results?

IMS has done a commendable job in bringing together so many organizations for corporate responsibility. Still, the impact on smaller businesses, which might lack the resources to implement extensive diversity programs, needs more consideration to ensure broad-based change.
