Tragic Discovery in Plopi Village

An 85-year-old woman was found dead on Saturday evening, November 22, 2025, in the village of Plopi, part of the Bunești-Averești commune in Vaslui county, Romania. The discovery was made by a local resident in a public area, described as a village street or a deserted park known as 'Găzărie'.

Emergency services, specifically a B2-type ambulance from Vaslui, responded to the scene. However, medical personnel found the victim without vital signs, with signs of death already established.

Severe Injuries and Suspected Cause

The deceased woman presented with extensive injuries, including a large wound on her right upper limb and the amputation of her forearm. The missing forearm segment could not be located at the scene.

Local villagers strongly suspect that the woman was attacked by stray dogs, often referred to as 'câini vagabonzi' or 'câini comunitari', which are reportedly a constant presence in the area. Some reports suggest the involvement of a pack of dogs.

Initial local accounts suggest the woman was returning from church, carrying a bag of food, and took a shortcut through the deserted park. It is speculated that the food or her presence might have attracted the animals. While local authorities state there are no organized packs of stray dogs within the commune, they do not dismiss the possibility that animals may have been brought into the village or migrated there in search of sustenance.
