Veteran Tatjana Bokan Returns to OK Herceg Novi Ahead of BVA Cup Challenge

Bokan's Return Bolsters OK Herceg Novi

Tatjana Bokan, a veteran Montenegrin volleyball player, has officially rejoined OK Herceg Novi, marking a significant return for the club. Her re-signing comes as the team prepares for its participation in the BVA Cup, a regional competition that offers a pathway to the CEV Challenge Cup. Bokan's return was reported on October 1, 2025.

Previous Success and Impact

This is not Bokan's first stint with OK Herceg Novi. She previously played for the team during the 2022/23 season, where she served as captain and played a pivotal role in the club's historic achievements. During that season, Herceg Novi secured a 'double crown,' winning both the Montenegrin championship and the Montenegrin Cup without losing a single set in either competition. The club is also noted as a three-time consecutive winner of the double crown.

An Illustrious International Career

Throughout her career, Tatjana Bokan has amassed extensive international experience, playing for clubs across numerous countries. Her professional journey has taken her to Italy, France, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Japan, China, Indonesia, Egypt, and Azerbaijan. Born on April 9, 1988, Bokan is an outside hitter.

Anticipation for the BVA Cup

OK Herceg Novi is set to compete in the Balkan Volleyball Association (BVA) Cup, which will be held in Gjilan. The BVA Cup is a competition for national volleyball championship-winning teams from Balkan nations, founded in 2008. The winner of this tournament earns the right to participate in the CEV Challenge Cup. Herceg Novi's schedule in the BVA Cup includes matches against Drita, AEK Athens, and Fit Fan Volley from Skopje.

Bokan's Perspective on Her Return

Expressing her enthusiasm for rejoining the team, Bokan stated, 'What a surprise it is for the audience, it is also for me. I met Milan Ivanišević at the Super Cup and that's when the talks about my return started. I am happy to be back in Herceg Novi. I love playing at home, I really enjoyed the year I was here. Everything was great at the club, on and off the field. So I want everything to happen again, and maybe even achieve greater success than that year. Some stability is expected with my arrival. I think I can do it and I am ready to provide what I have provided so far. If that is enough, I will be happy.' The club, OK Herceg Novi, was founded in 2007.

Bringing back an experienced player like Bokan can certainly provide stability as she stated. However, this also means the club must manage expectations and ensure she integrates smoothly into the current team structure.

Hope she still has it. Age can catch up, even to legends.

Tatjana's commitment to playing at home is admirable and will surely energize the fans. Still, the pressure to replicate or exceed past achievements could be immense, and they'll need more than just her talent.

One player doesn't make a team. Still skeptical about their chances.
