Bratislava Prepares for 10th World Music Festival Featuring Global and Local Talents

Bratislava Welcomes Global Rhythms for Tenth Anniversary

The Slovak capital, Bratislava, is set to host the 10th anniversary edition of the World Music Festival from September 19 to 21, 2025. This three-day cultural event will transform the city's historic center into a vibrant hub for diverse musical traditions from around the globe, alongside a strong representation of local talent. The festival promises a rich program spanning various genres and cultural expressions.

Diverse Program Across Multiple Venues

Attendees can look forward to performances at several key locations within Bratislava's historic core, including Divadlo Aréna, Dom hudby, Karloveské centrum kultúry, Koncertná sieň Klarisky, Pink Whale, and Teatro Colorato. For the first time, the festival will also extend its reach beyond Bratislava to include events in Trenčín. The program is designed to offer a wide array of musical styles, from energetic dance rhythms to spiritual melodies.

The festival's thematic days include 'World Music and Emotions in Dance' on Friday, focusing on genres like flamenco and tango. Saturday will explore 'World Music and Spirituality,' while Sunday is dedicated to celebrating Slovak music in its traditional and contemporary forms.

Featured International and Slovak Artists

The festival boasts an impressive lineup of both international and domestic artists. Key international acts confirmed for the event include:

  • The legendary Finnish folk band Värttinä
  • Polish tango quartet Bandonegro
  • Spanish flamenco dancer María Moreno
  • Syrian Sufi ensemble Jawa
  • Serbian experimental artist Lenhart Tapes
  • Indian group Tarang

Slovak performers will also be prominently featured, with showcase concerts and dedicated performances. Notable Slovak artists include Martin Štefánik, the Roma folk band Pekovci, Páni času, Ildikó Kali Trio, Miloš Biháry Django Gypsy Jazz Trio, Izvor, Bodnárová – Szabó – Nosál, and Samaria Klezmer Band.

Beyond Concerts: Workshops and Conferences

In addition to the extensive concert schedule, the World Music Festival Bratislava will offer a range of complementary activities. An International Conference will bring together professionals and delegates, fostering dialogue within the world music community. Attendees can also participate in various workshops, such as a flamenco dance workshop led by María Moreno, and enjoy DJ sets and free showcase concerts featuring local talent.
