UN Conference Concludes with Renewed Push for Two-State Solution and Palestinian State Recognition

A high-level international conference, co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, concluded at UN headquarters, focusing on the two-state solution. China and many nations supported recognizing a Palestinian state.

China's envoy highlighted the Gaza conflict and humanitarian crisis, proposing a ceasefire and aid. He also called for Palestinian self-governance and strengthening Palestinian unity and economic resilience. China pledged to work towards a lasting solution.

UN Secretary-General Guterres stated the conflict had reached a "breaking point," but could be resolved with political will. He emphasized the two-state solution. Over 120 countries attended.

Canada, Malta, and Singapore announced intentions to recognize Palestine. The UK urged Israel to act, warning of recognition in September. France will formally recognize Palestine in September. China recognized Palestine in 1988.
