Liu Jinsong, the Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs within the Chinese Foreign Ministry, took immediate action on Friday by calling upon Yokochi Akira, the Chief Minister of the Japanese Embassy in China. This summoning aimed to convey a strong condemnation regarding Lin Chia-lung, the head of Taiwan's DPP authorities, planning to visit Japan. Liu emphasized that the Taiwan issue is integral to China's vital interests, forming a foundation for political relations with Japan and essential for mutual trust.
The visit by Lin, masked as a “private engagement,” is seen as Japan enabling antih-China separatist activities, which Liu argued sends a distressing signal to the region. He pointed out that the year represents a significant anniversary marking 80 years since the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and Taiwan’s return to Chinese governance, reinforcing China’s expectations from Japan to respect the spirit of established political agreements.
Moreover, the Chinese Embassy in Japan expressed its protest on Saturday, stating that the Taiwan question is central to China's core interests, insisting on the inviolability of the one-China principle that should not be subjected to political games. Despite prior warnings from China, the Japanese government permitted Lin’s entrance and his provocative activities. The embassy reiterated that such actions are unacceptable and reiterated demands for Japan to honor its political commitments related to Taiwan, indicating that China would remain vigilant and respond appropriately to Japan's future actions.

Expecting Japan to bow to China is unrealistic. Countries need to act in their own best interests!

Political commitments should not be used to suffocate democratic aspirations—Taiwan deserves better!

All this talk about core interests sounds like a recipe for isolation. The more you push, the more you alienate.

Why is China so afraid of Taiwan’s international recognition? They need to lighten up!

Engagement and dialogue are the way forward, not threats and protests. China needs to rethink its strategy!

I support Liu Jinsong’s stance. Countries must respect China's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
