During his recent inspection tour in the Xizang Autonomous Region, Chinese Premier Li Qiang focused on boosting the quality of national projects and promoting social and economic development tailored to the needs of various ethnic communities. While visiting the ongoing Sichuan-Xizang Railway construction in Nyingchi city, Li noted the importance of completing the railway in order to support regional growth and improve the living conditions of residents, emphasizing that safety and quality must be paramount throughout the entire process. Furthermore, he heralded the Yarlung Zangbo hydropower project as a monumental undertaking, insisting it should utilize cutting-edge technologies and materials to ensure superior construction quality, all while protecting the ecological integrity of the area.
In Lhasa, Li explored a modern agriculture demonstration zone, where he assessed the development of local agricultural practices and animal husbandry alongside the plateau biology institute. He stressed the need to utilize Xizang's unique resources to enhance these sectors, which are essential for increasing income levels and bolstering the region's economy. Additionally, he encouraged the promotion of innovative technologies and sought advancements in high-altitude breeding practices.
Acknowledging the progress Xizang has made in economic and social spheres, Li expressed his expectation for local leaders and citizens to work diligently on maintaining stability, fostering development, safeguarding ecological balance, and enhancing prosperity in border areas.
