On Monday, Shanghai's culture and tourism authority announced the city's new promotional slogan, "This is Shanghai." This slogan was selected as the winner of a global competition organized by the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism in March.
The introduction of the new slogan is part of Shanghai's ongoing initiative to improve services and attract more international visitors. This initiative coincides with a strong recovery in inbound tourism. In the first five months of 2025, the city welcomed 3.396 million visitors from abroad, with 2.543 million being foreign tourists.
Alongside the new slogan, a promotional video titled "This is Shanghai" was also released. This video, a collaborative effort between local and international promoters, showcases Shanghai's key attractions and diverse cultural experiences.
Furthermore, a variety of new tourism products were unveiled, including new accommodations and dining options. Three citywalk routes, designed by experienced guides, were also introduced. These guides include Clarisse Le Guernic from France, Feng Yao from Japan, and Huang Xiaojie from England, each specializing in different aspects of Shanghai's culture.
An interactive digital tool, the "Guide to Citywalk Shanghai" H5 map, was also presented. This bilingual platform features six citywalk vlogs, providing travelers with a new and interactive way to explore the city.

Citywalks? Sounds nice, but unless they actually walk by the less polished parts, it's not the real Shanghai.

I hope these city walks include some authentic food stalls and not just Michelin-starred restaurants.
