A man named Jerico Bernard Williams, 24, was swiftly convicted by a jury in Spalding County, Georgia, for his role in an armed robbery at a Dollar General store. The jury took less than 15 minutes to reach their decision, sentencing him to a life term in prison without the possibility of parole, plus an additional 20 years.
Williams was found guilty of multiple offenses, including armed robbery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, and firearm possession during the commission of a felony. He was part of a robbery team that included Tierra Davis and Demarcus Timmons, both of whom are also facing charges. The group attempted the robbery on June 4, 2023, while a fourth accomplice remains unidentified and at large.
During the robbery, Williams was accused of brandishing a firearm at a mother and her child while demanding that the cashier fill the register. Fortunately, no shots were fired during the incident, but a witness’s quick actions in alerting law enforcement were crucial in tracking down the suspects. Two of the robbers were apprehended by police after a pursuit, while Williams was later taken into custody.
Sheriff Darrell Dix criticized the robbery as foolish, emphasizing the dangers of targeting a store in a community where many residents are armed. The charges against Williams are compounded by his previous criminal record, which includes convictions for armed robbery and hijacking, leading to a prior sentence of seven years in prison. Both Davis and Timmons are awaiting their trials as the investigation continues for the missing fourth suspect.

Armed robbery is serious. It’s not just the act, but the fear it causes victims. Excellent work by law enforcement!

Life sentences send a strong message! You can't just rob people and expect to get away with it.

Our communities deserve to be safe. Williams made his choice, and now he must pay for it.

There’s no room for sympathy here. He endangered lives and deserves a severe punishment.
