Teacher in Guangdong Builds Second Home for Tibetan Students

Chen Geng's role as the director of the Xizang department at Zhuhai No 4 Middle School involves spending major holidays and weekends caring for Tibetan students from the Xizang autonomous region. He has built strong relationships with the students, often referred to as "Father Chen", by making home visits to understand their living conditions and family backgrounds.

Chen's daily routine involves not only teaching classes but also overseeing the students' well-being, food, and accommodations, resembling a parent-like figure. His selfless dedication is evident in the sacrifices he makes, such as spending time with homesick students, visiting them in hospitals, and fostering a supportive environment that goes beyond academics. Chen's efforts have led to the students viewing the school not just as an educational institution but as their home away from home, with Zhuhai becoming their "second hometown".

Chen's genuine care and commitment have resulted in remarkable success stories, with over 60 Xizang students gaining admission to top universities in China. More than 90 percent of the Tibetan students at the school pass the national college entrance examination, enabling them to pursue higher education and establish careers in various fields upon graduation. Chen's ultimate happiness lies in seeing his students achieve success and giving back to their hometowns in Xizang.
