Leadership Change at French Alps 2030 Organizing Committee
Cyril Linette has resigned from his position as Chief Executive Officer of the 2030 French Alps Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games organizing committee. The departure was formally acknowledged during an executive board meeting last weekend and confirmed by organizers on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Linette's exit comes after weeks of internal turmoil and a public dispute with Edgar Grospiron, the president of the organizing committee and a former Olympic champion freestyle skier.
Organizers stated that the decision reflects a 'collective desire for a new momentum through renewed governance' as the project enters a crucial phase. Linette had been appointed CEO in April 2025.
Escalating Tensions and Multiple Resignations
The conflict between Linette and Grospiron has been described as 'irreconcilable differences' and 'public feuding'. This leadership shake-up is the latest in a series of challenges for the organizing committee. In recent months, several other senior executives have also resigned, including:
- Anne Murac, Chief Operating Officer
- Arthur Richer, Communications Director
- Bertrand Méheut, Head of the Remuneration Committee
Commitment to the 2030 Games
Despite the internal challenges, stakeholders have reaffirmed their commitment to the success of the 2030 French Alps Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Grospiron, when questioned about the crisis, acknowledged the 'difficulties' but asserted his '100 percent' involvement and devotion to the project, stating that the governance crisis would have 'no impact on the delivery of the Games.' The 2030 Winter Olympics are scheduled to take place from February 1 to February 17, 2030, across four main clusters in the French Alps: Haute Savoie, Savoie, Briançon, and Nice. France was conditionally awarded the hosting rights by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in July 2024.

It's positive that stakeholders are reaffirming their commitment to the Games, but the extent of the internal turmoil suggests deeper systemic issues that won't be solved by one resignation alone. They need a full overhaul.

How can they claim commitment with so many high-level departures?

New momentum is exactly what's needed. Onward to 2030!

Irreconcilable differences? Sounds like a deeply dysfunctional committee.

This whole thing is a huge red flag for the entire event.
