New Delhi, India – Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India and HSH Prince Alois, Hereditary Prince of Liechtenstein, met on February 20, 2026, in New Delhi to strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in high-value manufacturing, advanced technologies, and innovation-driven sectors. The significant meeting took place on the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit 2026, a global gathering focused on the future of artificial intelligence.

The leaders reaffirmed the cordial and friendly bilateral relations between India and Liechtenstein, emphasizing a shared commitment to expanding mutually beneficial collaboration.

Boosting Economic Engagement through TEPA

A key point of discussion was the recent entry into force of the India–TEPA Free Trade Agreement in October 2025. Both leaders expressed confidence that this agreement would provide a fresh impetus to bilateral economic engagement.

The TEPA is projected to facilitate a substantial US$100 billion of investment into India over the next 15 years. This landmark agreement underscores the growing economic ties and potential for increased trade and investment flows between the two nations.

Focus on Advanced Technologies and Innovation

During their discussions, Prime Minister Modi and Prince Alois specifically agreed to deepen collaboration in several critical areas:

The meeting between the two leaders occurred amidst the India AI Impact Summit 2026, hosted by the Government of India under the IndiaAI Mission, in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY). The summit, held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from February 16 to 21, 2026, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi on February 19, 2026.

The summit's overarching theme is 'Shaping AI For Humanity, Inclusive Growth & a Sustainable Future,' bringing together policymakers, researchers, industry leaders, startups, civil society, and international organizations to discuss the transformative potential and governance of artificial intelligence.
