Leaders Meet at AI Impact Summit in New Delhi
New Delhi, India – India and the Principality of Liechtenstein have committed to strengthening their collaboration across high-value manufacturing, advanced technologies, and innovation-driven sectors. The agreement was forged during a bilateral meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and HSH Prince Alois, the Hereditary Prince of Liechtenstein, held on Friday, February 20, 2026. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the prestigious AI Impact Summit 2026, hosted at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
Prince Alois is visiting India at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi to participate in the summit, which runs from February 16 to 21, 2026. The leaders reaffirmed the cordial and friendly bilateral relations between their nations.
Deepening Collaboration in Key Economic Sectors
During their discussions, both leaders emphasized the potential for enhanced economic linkages. They specifically agreed to deepen cooperation in:
- High-value manufacturing
- Advanced technologies
- Innovation-driven sectors
This collaboration aligns with India's strategic objective to bolster its manufacturing base and expand its presence in cutting-edge industries. Liechtenstein, despite its small size, boasts a highly successful industrial sector known for its focus on high-value, niche products, including precision manufacturing, high-tech industrial equipment, advanced dental products, microelectronics, and specialized automotive components.
Leveraging Trade Agreements and Future Investments
A significant backdrop to this agreement is the recent entry into force of the India–TEPA Free Trade Agreement in October 2025. Both leaders expressed confidence that this agreement would provide substantial impetus to bilateral economic engagement. The TEPA is projected to facilitate investments totaling US$100 billion into India over the next 15 years.
The discussions also highlighted a shared interest in harnessing artificial intelligence and digital transformation for sustainable development. India's focus on advanced manufacturing, digital transformation, and Industry 4.0 adoption complements Liechtenstein's expertise in specialized engineering and high-tech production.
Commitment to Mutual Growth and Innovation
The meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Hereditary Prince Alois marks an important step in further strengthening the India–Liechtenstein partnership. It underscores a mutual commitment to expanding beneficial collaboration, particularly in areas that drive technological advancement and economic growth for both nations.
