Inauguration of the 2026 Philatelic Program
Poste San Marino officially inaugurated its 2026 philatelic program on February 19, 2026, introducing four new postal series that explore themes of culture, music, art, and social issues. The new stamps are set to become available to collectors and the public starting March 3, 2026.
Spotlight on the San Marino Song Contest Series
Among the new releases, a dedicated series pays homage to the San Marino Song Contest, the national musical event that will determine the Republic's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, scheduled to take place in Austria in May. The stamp, issued in sheets of 12 specimens, each with a face value of €2.25, features a striking design of a vinyl record emerging from its sleeve. This imagery symbolically captures the energy and artistic vitality of the contest, celebrating music's expressive power as a tool for national identity and international promotion. The San Marino Song Contest 2026 itself is structured with semi-finals on March 3rd and 4th, culminating in a grand final on March 7th, 2026, at the Teatro Nuovo Dogana in San Marino.
Celebrating Europa and Other Significant Themes
Another prominent series in the 2026 program is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Europa stamp. This issue is part of the prestigious 'Europa' series, an initiative by PostEurop, the association of European public postal operators, which annually assigns a common theme to its member countries. The design for this commemorative stamp was created by Finnish designer Klaus Welp, who won an international competition for his interpretation of the anniversary's historical and symbolic value. Completing the initial set of four emissions are stamps focusing on Medical Oncology and the local BUONENUOVE project, further diversifying the program's thematic scope.
Availability for Collectors
The new philatelic issues will be accessible for purchase through the official Poste San Marino website, www.poste.sm, and at the Philatelic and Numismatic Shop located in Piazzetta Garibaldi. These releases continue San Marino's tradition of issuing designer stamps that celebrate art, culture, and history with internationally recognized quality, offering collectors small masterpieces that tell significant stories.

It's nice to see San Marino promoting its culture through art, but I wonder how many people outside of collectors truly appreciate these new issues.

The Europa stamp anniversary is historically significant, and the Song Contest stamp adds national pride. However, I question the broader impact these have beyond a small collecting community.

Just another way to get money from collectors. Not relevant for the average citizen.
