The 26-year-old athlete delivered a commanding performance on Saturday, February 7, 2026, finishing with a time of 53 minutes, 45.2 seconds.

Karlsson's victory marked a significant moment for Sweden and for her career, as she secured her first individual Olympic title. The race, held on a challenging Dolomite mountain course in Tesero, saw Karlsson cross the finish line a remarkable 51 seconds ahead of her closest competitor, a margin so substantial that she was able to collect a Swedish flag before concluding the race.

A Dominant Performance in Challenging Conditions

The women's 20-kilometer skiathlon, which combines 10 kilometers of classic technique followed by a ski exchange and 10 kilometers of freestyle technique, tested the athletes' versatility and endurance. Conditions on the day were described as challenging, with energy-draining wet snow and temperatures around 5 degrees Celsius (41 Fahrenheit).
