Tencent Cloud and Treeal Unveil PalmAI Service in Brazil
São Paulo, Brazil – Brazilian fintech company Treeal has officially partnered with Tencent Cloud, the cloud business of global technology giant Tencent, to launch the advanced PalmAI Service in the Brazilian market. Announced on Thursday, February 5, 2026, this collaboration introduces a secure, palm-based biometric payment and access control system designed to offer a contactless and highly accurate alternative to traditional identification methods.
Advanced Biometric Technology for Enhanced Security
The PalmAI Service utilizes a sophisticated palm scanner to authorize payments and grant access. This technology identifies the unique vein patterns beneath the skin, along with lines, contours, creases, and skin textures, which are distinct to each individual. A key advantage of PalmAI is its ability to function without the need for a card or a smartphone, streamlining user interactions.
Tencent Cloud asserts that palm scans offer greater reliability compared to fingerprint and facial recognition systems, which can be susceptible to spoofing, accuracy limitations with certain demographics, environmental challenges, and hygiene concerns. Treeal's implementation of PalmAI boasts impressive performance metrics, enabling user identification in less than 300 milliseconds, with a false acceptance rate of less than 0.0000001% and a false rejection rate of 0.01%.
Redefining User Experience and Market Potential
The PalmAI Service is already operational in several Asian markets, where it is used for various applications including premises access, high-traffic transit locations, retail self-checkout experiences, and private events. Globally, the system supports over 50 million active users and processes more than 2 billion transactions annually.
João Santos, CEO of Treeal, emphasized the transformative potential of the technology, stating, 'Biometric systems like this aren't just about security – they redefine the user experience by making it faster, simpler, and more intuitive.' He further expressed optimism about its future in Brazil, adding, 'We believe palm-based biometrics could become mainstream within the next five years.'
Treeal and Tencent Cloud's Strategic Presence in Brazil
Treeal, a Brazilian fintech specializing in innovative payment solutions for businesses since 2020, currently handles over 200 million transactions per month, providing robust and scalable technological infrastructure. This partnership aligns with Tencent Cloud's growing commitment to the Latin American market, particularly Brazil, which it considers a key strategic region. Tencent Cloud established its first Internet Data Center in São Paulo in November 2021, significantly expanding its global network and reinforcing its dedication to accelerating digital transformation in the region.

The convenience of not needing a card or phone is appealing, but I worry about the long-term implications of having such sensitive biometric data stored by private companies.
