Unsealed Documents Detail Lithuanian Connections
Newly released documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein have brought to light connections with several prominent figures from Lithuania. The records, which include emails and financial transactions, name businessman Valdas Petreikis, model Dite Antanaityte, and violinist Justina Auskelyte. These revelations emerged from a series of document unsealings that began in early January 2024.
Businessman Valdas Petreikis's Ties
The documents indicate that Lithuanian businessman Valdas Petreikis was introduced to Epstein by his wife, Simona. An email from 2017 shows Simona writing to Epstein, seeking investment for her husband's events in Lithuania and acknowledging Epstein's financial support for her own studies and career.
Financial records further detail transfers from a foundation linked to Epstein. In 2017, €75,000 was transferred to Fors projektai, a Vilnius-based company where Petreikis was listed as the sole shareholder. Additionally, Petreikis's company, Baleto Teatras, received $18,000 in April 2018 and another $10,000 in September 2018.
Speaking to Lithuanian media, Petreikis reportedly stated that he had known Epstein for many years, describing their relationship as 'social and professional,' and claimed he was unaware of Epstein's criminal activities at the time.
Model Dite Antanaityte and Violinist Justina Auskelyte Mentioned
Correspondence from 2010 reveals that model Dite Antanaityte attempted to introduce Epstein to Lithuanian fashion designer Juozas Statkevicius.
Violinist Justina Auskelyte is also mentioned in the unsealed files. Documents indicate that she met Epstein in person and received money from him, which she used to cover loan installments for her family's apartment. It was also reported that Auskelyte, on at least one occasion, requested cash to avoid paying taxes.
Broader Context of Document Release
The unsealing of these documents is part of a larger disclosure ordered by a federal judge in December 2023, stemming from a lawsuit against Epstein's associate, Ghislaine Maxwell. The ongoing release includes millions of pages of records, images, and videos, shedding further light on Epstein's extensive network and activities.
