Hoax Bomb Threat on IndiGo Flight 6E 2608
An IndiGo flight operating as 6E 2608 from Delhi to Pune was subjected to a bomb threat on Thursday, January 22, 2026. The threat was discovered after the aircraft had safely landed at Pune Airport. Security personnel found a handwritten note in the aircraft's lavatory, prompting an immediate and comprehensive security response.
Incident Details and Response
The flight, an Airbus A321neo, departed from Terminal 2 of Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi at 7:06 pm, approximately 36 minutes behind its scheduled departure. It subsequently landed in Pune at 9:27 pm. Upon the discovery of the threat, the aircraft was promptly directed to an isolation bay. All passengers and crew members were safely disembarked from the plane.
Following the established security protocols, a Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) was convened. Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads (BDDS), along with other security personnel, conducted extensive checks of the aircraft. These thorough inspections ultimately revealed nothing suspicious, and the threat was officially declared a hoax. IndiGo released a statement confirming that a 'security threat was noticed onboard' and that they immediately informed relevant authorities, cooperating fully with standard operating procedures.
Recent Pattern of Hoax Threats
This incident marks the second such hoax bomb threat targeting an IndiGo flight within a span of five days. Just days prior, on January 18, 2026, IndiGo flight 6E 6650, en route from Delhi to Bagdogra, was diverted to Lucknow after a similar threat, also in the form of a note found in the lavatory, was reported. In both instances, security checks confirmed the threats to be unfounded.

Passengers must be terrified. This constant threat is draining.

It's reassuring that the bomb squad confirmed it was a hoax after thorough checks. Still, the ease with which these disruptive notes are being planted needs a robust preventative strategy, not just reactive measures.

IndiGo needs to tighten up pre-flight checks. This is unacceptable.

Second time in a week? This is becoming a joke.

How did that note even get on the plane? Major security flaw!
