REDpreneur Women Programme Invites Ukrainian Entrepreneurs
The Ukrainian Red Cross, in partnership with the Austrian Red Cross, has officially opened applications for the second cohort of the REDpreneur Women Programme. This initiative is designed to empower Ukrainian women entrepreneurs by providing comprehensive support for developing innovative and socially oriented businesses. The program aims to foster economic recovery and enhance self-sufficiency in Ukraine.
Applications for this cohort commenced on January 12, 2026, and will close on February 12, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Kyiv time.
Programme Structure and Support
The REDpreneur Women Programme is a collaborative effort supported by the Austrian foundation NACHBAR IN NOT and the Austrian Development Agency. The training and mentoring components are delivered in cooperation with the Ukrainian Future Business Incubator.
The program is structured to provide participants with essential resources:
- Intensive Training: 25 selected participants will undergo an intensive training program.
- Mentorship: Aspiring entrepreneurs will receive guidance from experienced mentors.
- Funding: 17 finalists will be awarded €7,000 in funding to help implement their business ideas.
The program places a strong emphasis on business ideas that demonstrate a social, environmental, or innovative impact, and those that contribute to Ukraine's recovery through entrepreneurship.
Eligibility and Objectives
Ukrainian women aged 18 and over are eligible to apply, provided they reside in territories controlled by the Government of Ukraine. Applicants should possess an innovative business idea in a sustainable sector with a social and environmental component, and either not currently run a business or be seeking to restart one. A stable internet connection for online training is also required, and having a recognized vulnerability status will be considered an additional advantage.
The broader REDpreneur initiative, from which this women-focused program stems, is a two-year program designed to improve livelihoods by supporting business development across Ukraine. It aims to restore the country's economic potential by supporting small and micro businesses, fostering entrepreneurship among vulnerable populations, and promoting economic recovery and social integration.
Contributing to Ukraine's Recovery
This second cohort builds upon the success of previous REDpreneur initiatives, including a first cohort that focused on supporting women veterans. The program's goal is to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to manage a business successfully, create jobs, and develop financially sustainable models capable of attracting investment and ensuring long-term stability.

Only 17 finalists get funding? That's a tiny drop in the ocean for a country in need.

The collaboration between the Red Cross entities and local incubators offers valuable resources and expertise. However, the long-term sustainability and scalability of these individual businesses beyond the program's duration will be key to measuring true success.

Providing training and mentorship is an excellent step towards skill development and fostering innovation. Yet, the €7,000 grant, while helpful, may not be sufficient for launching truly sustainable and impactful businesses without additional capital.

This feels like a token gesture, not a comprehensive solution for Ukraine's massive economic challenges.

Fantastic to see the Red Cross investing in entrepreneurship and social impact. Real change!
