Seven winter sports centers in Belgium's East Cantons, situated in the east of Liège province, commenced operations on January 4, 2026, marking the end of the Christmas holidays with favorable conditions for winter sports enthusiasts. The openings follow a recent accumulation of 10 to 15 centimeters of powder snow in the higher areas of Belgium, as confirmed by the East Cantons tourist office.

Diverse Offerings Across Multiple Locations

The newly opened centers provide a range of activities, primarily focusing on cross-country skiing and sledging. Each location offers distinct trails and facilities:

• The Worriken winter sports center in the Bütgenbach area features cross-country trails spanning 2, 4, 6, and 8 kilometers.
• At Mont Spinette in Malmedy, visitors can access 4 and 11-kilometer cross-country trails.
• Baraque Michel offers cross-country skiing on trails of 5, 6, and 7 kilometers.
• Signal de Botrange, with 15 centimeters of powder snow, also has 5, 6, and 7-kilometer cross-country trails available.
• In Weywertz, cross-country skiers can explore trails of 2, 4, 6, 8, and 13 kilometers, with sledging also possible.
• The Losheimergraben winter sports center in Büllingen provides ski slopes of 4, 8, and 12 kilometers.
• Ovifat has opened its red, green, and blue slopes for skiers, alongside sledging opportunities.
