Moldovan Officials and International Partners Deliver Christmas Greetings, Reaffirming European Path

Moldovan Leadership Extends Festive Wishes

On December 25, 2025, high-ranking Moldovan officials joined international partners in delivering Christmas greetings, focusing on themes of peace, unity, and the nation's steadfast European trajectory. The holiday, observed according to the Gregorian calendar, was marked by messages of reflection and hope for the future.

President Maia Sandu conveyed her wishes through a symbolic video message, appearing with children while decorating a Christmas tree. Her simple yet heartfelt greeting was 'Merry Christmas!' The Presidency also inaugurated a Christmas tree, open to the public until January 15, inviting citizens to partake in the festive atmosphere.

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu urged citizens to embrace the holiday with gratitude and to cherish their loved ones. He stated, 'Wherever this magic holiday finds you, I invite you to be grateful for life and health.' Grosu also reiterated that European integration remains the strategic priority for the Republic of Moldova in 2026.

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu underscored the government's dedication to the Moldovan people, wishing them 'happy winter holidays filled with peace, hope, and confidence in the future.' Members of the Cabinet of Ministers also issued joint greetings, addressing various sectors including the economy, security, and energy.

International Partners Affirm Support for Moldova's European Aspirations

International allies also extended their greetings, highlighting Moldova's progress and its European path. Iwona Piórko, the EU Ambassador to Moldova, commended the country's advancements in 2025 and the determination of its citizens to pursue European integration. She affirmed, 'We, the European Union, want the best for you and your families,' and noted significant developments such as the rapid screening process for EU legislation, the first EU-Moldova Summit held in Chisinau, and a substantial €1.9 billion financial package. Ambassador Piórko also pointed to tangible benefits for citizens, including participation in SEPA and the introduction of free roaming starting January 1.

Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, also sent a Christmas message emphasizing peace and unity across Europe. From the United States, Nick Pietrowicz, Chargé d'Affaires at the US Embassy in Chisinau, shared a festive message, highlighting shared values of faith, family, and freedom. He also acknowledged upcoming significant anniversaries for both nations in 2026, which are set to further strengthen their partnership.

A Season of Celebration and National Pride

Beyond official greetings, the holiday season in Moldova also saw initiatives aimed at promoting national identity and hospitality. The Invest Moldova Agency launched a 'Produced in Moldova. For Everyone' campaign at Chisinau 'Eugen Doga' International Airport, offering premium Moldovan sparkling wine to arriving travelers from cities like Amsterdam, Düsseldorf, and Paris. This initiative aimed to create a memorable first impression and showcase the country's authentic heritage and quality products.

The collective messages from Moldovan leaders and international partners during this Christmas period reinforced a shared vision for a peaceful, united, and European future for Moldova, building on the achievements of 2025.

The festive messages bring a sense of unity, but they shouldn't overshadow the critical need for internal reforms and addressing corruption, which are vital for any true progress.

It's encouraging to see international support for Moldova's future, yet the government must ensure these benefits are tangible for all citizens and not just a political talking point.

These 'international partners' only care about their own geopolitical agenda, not Moldova's best interests.

Proud to see Moldova asserting its European path. This is a big step forward.

While the emphasis on a European future is clear, a truly balanced foreign policy would involve strengthening ties with all major powers to ensure Moldova's long-term security and economic prosperity.
