Incident Near Hebron Claims Palestinian Life
Muhammad Wael al-Sharouf, a 23-year-old Palestinian man, was killed by Israeli forces on Sunday, December 14, 2025, in the occupied West Bank. The incident occurred at the northern entrance of Hebron City, near the Kiryat Arba settlement, following an alleged attempted stabbing.
Conflicting Accounts Emerge
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a statement asserting that troops had 'eliminated a terrorist who attempted to stab them in the area of Hebron'. The IDF also reported that no Israeli soldiers were injured during the alleged attack.
Conversely, the Palestinian Authority Health Ministry confirmed al-Sharouf's death, stating he 'was shot by forces' north of Hebron. Palestinian sources, including the official news agency WAFA, reported that al-Sharouf was shot in the head and left bleeding at the scene. They further alleged that Israeli soldiers prevented ambulance crews from reaching him to provide medical assistance and subsequently seized his body.
Aftermath and Regional Tensions
Following the shooting, Israeli forces reportedly closed all main entrances leading to Hebron City, restricting movement in and out of the area. The seizure of al-Sharouf's body was also reported by Palestinian officials.
This event unfolds amidst a significant escalation of violence in the West Bank since October 2023. According to Palestinian figures, more than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank by Israeli forces or settlers since the start of the Gaza war. The IDF maintains that the majority of those killed were 'gunmen killed in exchanges of fire, rioters who clashed with troops, or terrorists carrying out attacks'.

The IDF claims self-defense against a stabbing, yet the Palestinian reports of being left to die and body seizure paint a different, deeply disturbing picture of the incident.

While security concerns are valid for Israeli forces, denying medical aid and seizing a body raises serious humanitarian questions about accountability.

Escalating tensions make these incidents more frequent; while one can understand the need for security, the lack of independent verification for these alleged attacks fuels mistrust and further conflict.

Shot and left to bleed? This is a war crime.
