Interactive Brokers Opens Access to Brazil's B3 Exchange
Interactive Brokers (NASDAQ: IBKR), a global automated electronic broker, announced today that eligible clients located outside of Brazil can now trade Brazilian equities directly through B3, the Brazil Stock Exchange. This expansion aims to provide investors with increased opportunities within Latin American emerging markets, complementing Interactive Brokers' extensive global market coverage.

The addition of B3 to Interactive Brokers' platform allows international investors to engage with one of the world's most dynamic emerging economies. Milan Galik, Chief Executive Officer of Interactive Brokers, emphasized the importance of this development, stating, 'Global investors need seamless access to diverse markets to stay competitive. By adding Brazil's B3 Exchange, we're giving our clients efficient, low-cost access to one of the world's most dynamic emerging economies through our unified global platform.' This move integrates Brazilian equities alongside the broker's existing offerings of stocks, options, futures, currencies, bonds, and funds across more than 160 markets worldwide.
Understanding B3: Brazil's Premier Exchange
B3 S.A. – Brasil, Bolsa, Balcão, formerly known as BM&FBOVESPA, is recognized as Latin America's largest exchange and the second largest in the Western Hemisphere. Located in São Paulo, Brazil, B3 is described as one of the most active and liquid markets in the region. The exchange offers a comprehensive range of products, including equities, spot commodities, and interest-rate futures contracts. Its benchmark equity index is the Índice Bovespa (Ibovespa).
Global Platform and Client Restrictions
Interactive Brokers' unified global platform facilitates trading and supports funding in up to 28 currencies. The company serves a diverse global clientele, with a significant portion of its active accounts residing outside the United States. It is important to note that access to Brazil's B3 Exchange through Interactive Brokers is specifically for clients outside of Brazil and is not available to residents of the country.
