Drilling Commences at EP Gold Project
Colibri Resource Corporation, a Canadian junior mining company, announced today, December 8, 2025, the commencement of a new drilling program at its flagship EP Gold Project in Sonora, Mexico. A reverse circulation ('RC') drill rig has been mobilized to the site, and crews have begun operations, signaling a new phase of exploration for the company.
Strategic Location within the Caborca Gold Belt
The EP Gold Project encompasses a substantial 4,766-hectare land package, wholly owned by Colibri Resource Corporation. It is strategically situated within the highly prospective Caborca Gold Belt in northwestern Sonora, Mexico, a region renowned for its significant gold endowment. The project's location is particularly advantageous, being adjacent to and within the extensive concession holdings of Fresnillo plc, which is recognized as Mexico's leading gold producer and the world's largest primary silver producer.
The Caborca Gold Belt itself is a prominent gold metallogenic province, hosting numerous multi-million-ounce gold deposits and active mines. Notable examples include the La Herradura Mine, with over 15 million ounces, the Noche Buena Mine, exceeding 2 million ounces, and the historical Soledad-Dipolos Mine, which produced over 3 million ounces of gold.
Exploration Focus and Previous Work
The current drilling campaign will primarily target the San Perfecto and Banco de Oro areas within the EP Gold Project. These targets represent new zones for drilling by Colibri and have been identified through comprehensive surface sampling, geological mapping, and geophysical surveys. Prior to this program, Colibri Resource Corporation has conducted extensive exploration at the EP Gold Project, including over 12,000 meters of drilling since February 2020.
Company Outlook
Ian McGavney, President & CEO of Colibri Resource Corporation, emphasized the importance of this development, stating that the commencement of drilling is 'an important catalyst for the Company as we build exploration momentum across the EP Gold Project.' He added, 'With drills turning, we have moved decisively into execution mode.' The company aims to advance its portfolio through systematic exploration programs in this prolific mining district.

The Caborca Gold Belt is rich in resources, which offers economic potential. However, the sheer scale of the project demands careful assessment of its effects on local biodiversity and water resources.
