Hereditary Princess Sophie Backs Liacht Foundation's Third Charity Day in Vaduz

Vaduz Prepares for Annual Charity Event

The Liacht Foundation is preparing to host its third official Charity Day in Vaduz on Sunday, December 7, 2025. The event, which aims to provide crucial financial assistance to individuals and families facing hardship in Liechtenstein, will take place at the Rathaussaal (Town Hall) in Vaduz. This year's charity day operates under the distinguished patronage of Hereditary Princess Sophie von und zu Liechtenstein, underscoring the event's significance.

A Day of Music and Giving

The Charity Day promises a festive atmosphere with a diverse program of musical performances. Attendees can look forward to contributions from the Liechtensteinische Musikschule, the men's vocal quartet Vocalis, and the Harmoniemusik Balzers with a saxophone quartet. The event will be moderated by Tanja Cissé, who will also oversee interviews and check handovers throughout the day.

For those unable to attend in person, a dedicated donation phone line (+423 220 23 03) will be active from 10:00 to 13:00. Donations can also be made online via the foundation's website, www.liacht.li/spenden. Culinary offerings will be provided by the Trachtenvereinigung Liechtenstein, Getränke Meier AG, Balu Bäckerei, and Demmel Kaffee, with all proceeds directly benefiting the Liacht Foundation.

The Liacht Foundation's Mission and Royal Support

Established in 2023, the Liacht Foundation operates with the motto 'We help help' ('Wir helfen helfen'), focusing on offering unbureaucratic, rapid, and sustainable financial support to Liechtenstein residents who have fallen into financial distress through no fault of their own. The foundation channels its aid through various charitable institutions, ensuring direct assistance to socially disadvantaged individuals and families.

Key organizations supported by Liacht include:

  • Caritas Liechtenstein
  • Krebshilfe Liechtenstein
  • Netzwerk Familie
  • SOS-Kinderdorf Liechtenstein
  • Stiftung Liachtbleck
  • Eltern-Kind-Forum
  • Liechtensteiner Behinderten-Verband
  • Verein für Männerfragen
  • Demenz Liechtenstein
All funds raised are committed to being used 100% directly for those in need within Liechtenstein.

Hereditary Princess Sophie's involvement highlights her long-standing commitment to social welfare. She is known for her extensive philanthropic work, including founding the 'Sophie von Liechtenstein Foundation for Woman and Child' in 2006 and serving as President of the Liechtenstein Red Cross since 2015. Her patronage provides significant visibility and support for the Liacht Foundation's vital efforts.

Impact and Future Outlook

The Charity Day serves as a crucial fundraising initiative, enabling the Liacht Foundation to continue its mission of providing hope and new perspectives to those facing difficult circumstances. The collective effort of volunteers, performers, and donors, bolstered by royal patronage, aims to create a significant positive impact on the community.

Having a festive event with music is a lovely way to engage the public and raise funds. Yet, the long-term sustainability of aid relies on more than just annual events.

It's heartening to see various organizations collaborating for this charity day. But for true impact, there needs to be ongoing public education about systemic support options, not just event-based fundraising.

It's great that the Princess lends her profile to such a cause, which undoubtedly increases donations. However, it also underscores the persistent need for charity even in affluent societies like ours.

Charity shouldn't be a substitute for robust social safety nets. This feels like a band-aid.

Another event with music and food; how much of the 'donations' actually cover operational costs?
