Moncler Forges Partnership with Team Brazil for Milano Cortina 2026
Luxury outerwear brand Moncler is set to make its highly anticipated return to the Olympic stage, nearly six decades after its last Winter Games partnership. The brand has officially announced its collaboration with Team Brazil for the upcoming Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, scheduled to take place from February 6 to 22, 2026. This strategic alliance positions Moncler as the official sponsor of the Brazil Olympic Committee and the technical sponsor of the Brazilian Snow Sports Federation.
A Return to Olympic Heritage
Moncler's last involvement in the Winter Olympics dates back to 1968, when it outfitted Team France for the Grenoble Winter Games. This historical connection is even reflected in the brand's 'Moncler Grenoble' moniker. The current partnership with Team Brazil signifies a 'symbolic homecoming' for the brand, reaffirming its deep roots in high-performance winter sports and luxury style.
Remo Ruffini, Chairman and CEO of Moncler, expressed the significance of this return, stating, 'Returning to the Winter Games means a lot to Moncler, not only as a celebration of our heritage and where we come from, but also as a statement of what we stand for as a brand, continuing to push the boundaries of high performance and high style, now on the world's biggest stage for winter sports.'
Outfitting Team Brazil: Performance Meets Style
As part of the agreement, Moncler will be responsible for designing and supplying both the out-of-competition and racing outfits for Team Brazil. The collection, falling under the Moncler Grenoble division, will feature ivory white garments with subtle branding and the prominent display of the Brazilian flag.
A key figure in this collaboration is Lucas Pinheiro Braathen, the 24-year-old Brazilian-Norwegian Alpine skier and a Moncler Grenoble brand ambassador. Braathen, who made the decision to compete for Brazil in 2024, played a role in the development of the race suit, which blends technical performance with elements of Brazilian culture.
Emanuel Rêgo, CEO of the Brazil Olympic Committee, highlighted the impact of the partnership, remarking, 'This partnership expands the presence and recognition of the Brazil Olympic Committee's brand on the global sports stage. I am certain it will be an unforgettable moment for our athletes to parade in one of the world's fashion capitals wearing pieces that blend performance, design and style.'
Milano Cortina 2026: A Global Stage
The XXV Winter Olympic Games, known as Milano Cortina 2026, will be co-hosted by Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo across various locations in Lombardy and Northeast Italy. This event marks the third Winter Olympics and fourth overall to be hosted by Italy. The Games are expected to draw over two million spectators and will feature 116 medal events across 16 disciplines.
Moncler's involvement extends to sponsoring the opening and closing ceremonies, further solidifying its presence at this major international sporting event. The partnership underscores a growing trend of luxury brands engaging with high-profile sporting events to enhance global visibility and reinforce their performance credibility.

On one hand, Moncler brings undeniable quality and design to Team Brazil's outfits, which is exciting for the athletes. On the other hand, the increasing presence of luxury brands in sports makes me question if the Olympics are becoming too commercialized and exclusive.

Brazil in winter sports with Moncler? Just a marketing stunt.

Performance meets luxury, exactly what the modern Olympics need.

Luxury fashion for athletes? Seems like a wasteful expense.

More commercialism, less focus on the actual sport. Disappointing.

This deal definitely puts Brazil's winter sports on the map with a prestigious brand like Moncler. Yet, the cost implications and whether this truly benefits grassroots sports development in Brazil compared to just high-profile athletes remain to be seen.

It's great to see Moncler back on the Olympic stage, but I hope the focus remains on athletic performance rather than just brand exposure. The blend of style and technical gear is promising if executed well.
