Malta International Airport and MET Office Launch Revamped Digital Platforms
Malta International Airport (MIA) officially unveiled its newly redesigned websites for both the airport and the MET Office on December 1, 2025. The comprehensive overhaul aims to provide users with a fresher look, improved navigation, and an enhanced overall user experience. This initiative is part of MIA's ongoing commitment to delivering an excellent experience for its guests, even before their arrival at the airport.
Enhanced Features for Airport Users
The revamped airport website has been strategically divided into two distinct sections: Passenger and Corporate. This division allows users to more easily access information relevant to their specific needs.
- The Passenger section introduces several new tools designed to streamline the travel experience, including a car park calculator for estimating parking costs, downloadable airport maps for easier wayfinding, and an updated flight finder functionality with an intuitive interface.
- The Corporate section serves as a dedicated hub for shareholders, media representatives, and business partners. It provides access to essential corporate information such as media kits, traffic reports, financial results, and business opportunities. Additionally, this section features a comprehensive Corporate Responsibility segment, detailing the work of the Malta Airport Foundation, sustainability reports, and the company's long-term Net Zero Carbon Plan.
MET Office Website Receives Significant Upgrade
As part of the broader digital upgrade, the MET Office website has also received significant improvements. The 3-day weather forecast is now presented with greater detail, breaking down predictions into morning, afternoon, and evening segments. Updated weather iconography offers clearer depictions of expected conditions.
Furthermore, the MET Office has expanded its dataset to include weather information collected from additional weather stations across the Maltese islands. This enhancement was achieved in collaboration with the Research and Advisory Services Directorate within the Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries, and Animal Rights, strengthening the accuracy of local meteorological reporting for various stakeholders.
Commitment to Transparency and Customer Focus
Tina Lombardi, Senior Vice President for Commercial Development and Strategy at Malta International Airport, commented on the redesign, stating, 'This redesign is in line with Malta International Airport's vision to provide an excellent experience to our guests, even before they set foot at the airport. Ensuring that our passengers and business partners have easy access to reliable information is a key part of this, as we strive to remain a transparent and customer-focused company.'

The split into Passenger/Corporate is brilliant. Makes navigation a breeze.

It's good that MIA is updating its digital presence, but a website alone won't address the larger environmental impact of air travel, despite the Net Zero plan mention.

More money spent on aesthetics, less on actual airport services.

Acknowledging the effort to enhance user experience, I hope this digital investment translates into tangible improvements in overall airport efficiency and not just cosmetic changes.

Just another website redesign. Does it actually fix any real problems?
