Yoplait Canada Recalls YOP Drinkable Yogurts Over Plastic Contamination Concerns

Nationwide Recall Issued for Yoplait YOP Yogurts

Yoplait Canada has initiated a nationwide recall for various flavors of its YOP drinkable yogurts, citing the potential presence of plastic pieces. The recall, which was proactively triggered by the company, is now being overseen by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). The CFIA has classified this as a Class 1 recall, indicating a serious health risk if the contaminated products are consumed.

Affected Products and Best-Before Dates

The recall specifically targets all flavors of Yoplait YOP 200ml drinkable yogurts. This includes individual bottles as well as multi-pack formats such as 6-packs, 12-packs, and 15-packs. A wide range of flavors are impacted, including but not limited to:

  • Blueberry
  • Vanilla
  • Strawberry
  • Mermaid Blackberry Starfruit
  • Strawberry-Banana
  • Birthday Cake
  • Banana
  • Raspberry
  • Peach
  • Yuzu Mandarin
  • Tropical
  • Lactose-Free Strawberry-Raspberry
  • Lactose-Free Mango
Consumers should check the best-before dates on their products. The primary affected dates range from October 21, 2025, to January 12, 2026. Some 12- and 15-pack products may also have best-before dates up to and including '03JAN6AY'.

Reason for the Recall and Consumer Advisory

Yoplait Canada stated that the recall was issued after discovering a defect in 'a packaging component' that could lead to plastic pieces entering the drinkable yogurts. As of the announcement, there have been no reported injuries or illnesses associated with the consumption of the recalled products.

The CFIA and Yoplait Canada urge consumers to take immediate action if they possess any of the recalled items. Consumers are advised to:

  • Do not consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute the recalled products.
  • Dispose of the products safely.
  • Alternatively, return the products to the place of purchase for a refund or replacement.

The CFIA is actively conducting a food safety investigation and is verifying that all recalled products are being removed from the marketplace to ensure public safety.

While Yoplait's prompt recall is commendable for consumer safety, it's frustrating as a parent to now have to check and dispose of products I trusted for my kids. This impacts consumer confidence significantly.

Glad they caught this before anyone got hurt.

The CFIA's swift action is reassuring, ensuring these products are removed from shelves. Yet, the sheer volume of affected products and long best-before dates suggest a widespread problem that could have gone unnoticed for longer.
