Friendship Walk Unites Nations in Jakarta
Jakarta witnessed a vibrant display of bilateral camaraderie on Sunday, November 16, 2025, as the Poland-Indonesia Friendship Walk took place. This 5-kilometer event, held during Car Free Day, served as a significant component of the larger Poland Festival ASEAN 2025, designed to strengthen cultural and economic bonds between Poland and Indonesia.
Hundreds of participants, including local residents, expatriates, families, students, business communities, and cultural activists, joined the walk. The route commenced from Bundaran HI and concluded at Grand Lucky SCBD. The initiative was a collaborative effort by the Polish Investment & Trade Agency (PAIH) and the Embassy of Poland in Jakarta, in partnership with Grand Lucky and Hokky Group.
Poland Festival ASEAN 2025: A Broader Celebration
The Friendship Walk is an integral part of the Poland Festival ASEAN 2025, recognized as Poland's most extensive promotional program across Southeast Asia. The festival spans throughout October and November 2025, reaching various Indonesian cities including Jakarta, Bali, Surabaya, and Medan.
This year's festival, marking its sixth edition, features a dual focus on traditional and modern sectors. Traditional aspects highlight Polish food products, cosmetics, and culture, while the modern sector showcases innovative technology, including edtech, gaming, and artificial intelligence, alongside digital innovation, hospitality, and lifestyle. Cezary Filipek, Head of Office of PAIH Jakarta, emphasized the importance of cultural exchange, stating, 'We need to get to know each other, share meals, and travel together as we have done for the past five years.'
Boosting Economic and Cultural Diplomacy
Following the Friendship Walk, the official launch of Poland Shopping Day 2025 took place at Grand Lucky SCBD. This initiative will extend to Bali (November 21 at Grand Lucky Sanur) and Surabaya (November 22 at Hokky Citraland). Poland Shopping Day aims to introduce Polish culture, culinary traditions through demonstrations, and a variety of food and lifestyle products to Indonesian consumers.
The events underscore the deepening relationship between Indonesia and Poland, which are celebrating 70 years of diplomatic relations in 2025. Bilateral trade between the two nations has notably exceeded US$1 billion, with cooperation flourishing in sectors such as energy, health, and automotive. Barbara Szymanowska, the Ambassador of Poland to Indonesia, highlighted the public nature of the Friendship Walk, stating it was 'presented as a public activity open to families, students, business communities, and cultural activists.'
