Incident Unfolds in Grasmere
A 20-year-old man has been charged with multiple offences, including attempted murder, after allegedly stabbing a police officer in Grasmere, a suburb of Camden, New South Wales. The incident occurred on Friday, November 7, 2025, around 5:20 PM, when officers from Camden Police Area Command responded to a home on Werombi Road following reports of a concern for welfare and an alleged breach of an apprehended violence order (AVO).
Officer Injured During Arrest Attempt
During an attempt to arrest the man, he allegedly threw a spear at officers before stabbing a 28-year-old probationary constable in the leg with a sword. Police subsequently tasered the 20-year-old man and took him into custody. The injured officer was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and then airlifted to Liverpool Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Extensive Charges Laid
Following inquiries, the man was charged with a total of 11 offences. These include:
- Two counts of attempted murder
- Four counts of wound person with intent to resist/prevent arrest
- Wound police officer executing duty reckless as to actual bodily harm
- Use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention
- Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty
- Contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic)
- Breach of bail
Police established a crime scene at the Werombi Road property, seizing a knife, hatchet, and spear for forensic examination. The accused was refused bail and appeared before Parramatta Local Court on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
