Federal Interior Minister Announces Ban
Germany's Federal Interior Minister, Alexander Dobrindt, announced today the ban of the Islamist association 'Muslim Interaktiv'. The decision, effective Wednesday, November 5, 2025, comes after extensive scrutiny of the group's activities, which the ministry deemed to be anti-constitutional. The ban signifies a firm stance against organizations that reject the principles of democracy and the rule of law in Germany.
Reasons for the Ban and Group's Activities
The Interior Ministry cited 'Muslim Interaktiv's' anti-constitutional attitude as the primary reason for the ban. The group is accused of rejecting the principles of democracy and the rule of law, promoting antisemitism, and discriminating against women and sexual minorities. A significant point of contention was a rally organized by 'Muslim Interaktiv' in Hamburg in April 2024, where participants displayed signs advocating for a caliphate, including slogans such as 'the caliphate is the solution'.
Minister Dobrindt emphasized the government's resolve, stating, 'We will respond with the full force of the law to anyone who aggressively calls for a caliphate on our streets, incites hatred against the state of Israel and Jews in an intolerable manner, and despises the rights of women and minorities.' The group, founded in 2020, was known for its active online presence and organizing demonstrations.
Enforcement and Further Investigations
Following the ban, authorities initiated comprehensive enforcement measures. The association 'Muslim Interaktiv' will be officially dissolved, and all its assets are to be confiscated. Early on Wednesday, police conducted raids on properties associated with the group. These operations included seven properties in Hamburg, where the group was based, and an additional 12 properties in Berlin and the state of Hesse.
The Interior Ministry also confirmed that investigations are actively underway against two other Muslim groups, 'Generation Islam' and 'Realität Islam', on similar grounds of suspected anti-constitutional activities. Hamburg's interior minister, Andy Grote, welcomed the ban, describing it as the elimination of a 'dangerous and very active Islamist group'.

Taking a stand against extremism is important, especially regarding antisemitism. Yet, history shows that outright bans can sometimes backfire, fueling resentment and making recruitment easier in the shadows.

Shut down those who despise women's rights. Strong move, Minister.

This ban will just create martyrs and drive them underground.

Focus on integration, not just banning. This won't fix root issues.

Finally, action against hate groups. Protecting our values is paramount.
