Groundbreaking Ceremony Marks New Investment

NICCA Bangladesh Co. Ltd, a local arm of the Japanese chemical giant NICCA Chemical Co. Ltd, officially commenced construction of its new chemical storage and distribution warehouse with a groundbreaking ceremony on October 15, 2025. The state-of-the-art facility is being developed on a 3.4-acre site within the strategically important Bangladesh Special Economic Zone (BSEZ). This investment is poised to significantly enhance the logistics infrastructure for essential chemical raw materials in Bangladesh.

Advanced Facility to Support Textile Sector

The planned warehouse is designed to serve as a critical logistics hub, ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient storage of chemical raw materials vital for Bangladesh's burgeoning textile, dyeing, and apparel industries. Upon its scheduled completion by Q3 2026, the facility is expected to meet customer demands with a shorter lead time.

Key features of the new warehouse will include:

• Advanced Safety & Compliance: Incorporating modern fire suppression systems, intelligent heat and smoke detection, and comprehensive waste management, all in full compliance with local regulations.
• Climate-Controlled Storage: Dedicated zones for both hazardous and non-hazardous materials, equipped with forced draft systems to maintain product integrity.
• Sustainable Design: The project integrates eco-friendly initiatives such as solar power and rainwater harvesting systems.

The groundbreaking event was officiated by several prominent figures, including Takahashi Naoki, Minister of the Embassy of Japan to Bangladesh; Kawaji Yasuhito, General Manager of NICCA Textile Chemical Division Japan; and Kotaro Takeuchi, Managing Director of NICCA BANGLADESH CO. LTD. This strategic investment underscores the growing economic ties between Bangladesh and Japan and highlights the BSEZ's role in attracting foreign direct investment.

NICCA Chemical Co. Ltd, with over 84 years of history, is a leading Japanese manufacturer of textile and industrial chemicals, boasting a significant international presence across 10 countries. The company has had a liaison office in Dhaka since August 2014, demonstrating its long-standing commitment to the Bangladeshi market.

BSEZ: A Hub for Industrial Growth

The Bangladesh Special Economic Zone (BSEZ), a flagship initiative under the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), is a joint project between the governments of Bangladesh and Japan. Located on 1,000 acres in the Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj, the BSEZ aims to accelerate industrialization, create employment, and promote sustainable economic growth by providing high-quality infrastructure and a streamlined regulatory environment. NICCA Bangladesh Co. Ltd previously acquired 1.3 hectares of land in the BSEZ on November 13, 2023, paving the way for this significant development.
