Petrobras Awards Halliburton Multiple Deepwater Contracts for Brazilian Offshore Fields

Petrobras Strengthens Offshore Operations with Halliburton Contracts

Petrobras, Brazil's state-owned energy giant, has awarded multiple contracts to Halliburton, a U.S.-headquartered oilfield services provider, for comprehensive completion and stimulation services in its deepwater offshore fields. The agreements, announced on October 15-16, 2025, are slated to begin in 2026 and aim to enhance production optimization and operational efficiency in key Brazilian pre-salt areas.

Scope of Services and Key Technologies

Under the terms of the contracts, Halliburton will provide a range of specialized services and technologies across Petrobras' deepwater portfolio. These include vessel stimulation, intelligent completions, and safety valves.

  • In the Búzios field, which is considered the world's largest deepwater field, Halliburton will deploy its SmartWell intelligent completion technology. This system is designed to enable real-time reservoir management and provide actionable insights to optimize production.
  • For the Sépia and Atapu fields, Halliburton will supply EcoStar electric tubing retrievable safety valves (eTRSV). These valves are intended to improve the safety and efficiency of operations in these critical areas.
  • Additionally, Halliburton's Stim Star Brasil, a vessel specifically tailored for Petrobras' activities, will deliver stimulation services focused on boosting reservoir productivity and improving overall asset performance.

Strategic Collaboration in Brazil's Pre-Salt Region

The awarding of these contracts followed a competitive bidding process, underscoring Halliburton's expertise in complex offshore operations. Shawn Stasiuk, Senior Vice President of Halliburton's Completion and Production division, emphasized the long-standing relationship between the two companies, stating, 'Halliburton's engineered stimulation solutions strengthen the collaboration with Petrobras. These awards demonstrate our longstanding relationship in Brazil and support our global strategy to improve asset value and safety through our completions services.' This collaboration highlights Halliburton's significant role in the advancement of Brazil's offshore oil and gas industry, particularly in the productive pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin.
