Multiple Stabbings Rock Yaletown Seawall
Vancouver police are currently engaged in a search for a suspect following a series of stabbings that left three people injured on the Yaletown seawall on Friday morning, October 10, 2025. The attacks, which occurred near David Lam Park, have been described by authorities as 'random and unprovoked'. All three victims were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Details of the Incident
Officers from the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) responded to reports of multiple stabbings along the seawall just after 7:30 a.m. PT. Initial evidence suggests the attacks were separate incidents, potentially occurring minutes apart. Constable Tania Visintin, a spokesperson for the VPD, confirmed that the victims' injuries were not life-threatening, and they are expected to recover physically. However, Visintin noted that the emotional impact of such random attacks can be severe.
Suspect Description and Ongoing Investigation
The suspect, who fled the scene before police arrived, is described as an Indigenous woman in her late 20s or early 30s. She stands between 5'3" and 5'7" tall, has a slim build, and long dark hair worn in a ponytail. At the time of the incident, she was reportedly wearing a large, oversized black leather jacket, tight dark pants, and either a leopard-print shirt or scarf. Police are actively canvassing the area for video footage and are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant video footage to contact investigators at 604-717-7048.
Public Safety Concerns Addressed
Constable Visintin acknowledged the understandable concern this incident has caused among those who frequent the seawall and residents of the area. She emphasized that 'Public safety is our top priority and we are doing everything we can to identify and arrest the suspect as quickly as possible.' The VPD continues its efforts to locate the individual responsible for the violent acts.

This type of random violence makes everyone feel vulnerable, especially in popular public spaces like the seawall. However, the quick reporting and police response show that authorities are taking these threats seriously, urging public cooperation.

While the police are doing their best to apprehend the suspect and restore calm, this incident shines a harsh light on growing safety concerns in urban areas. More proactive measures, beyond just reactive investigations, seem necessary.

It's a relief the victims' injuries aren't life-threatening, but the 'random and unprovoked' nature is truly unsettling for public confidence. We need to address the root causes of such violence while supporting law enforcement efforts.

Where is the visible police presence? Too little, too late.

Our streets are becoming a free-for-all. Unacceptable.
