Wolt Launches Costco Home Delivery Service in Iceland

Wolt Introduces Costco Delivery in Iceland

Wolt, the Finnish technology company known for its delivery platform, has officially launched a new home delivery service for Costco in Iceland. The service, which began on October 6, 2025, allows Icelandic consumers to order a wide array of products directly from Costco's Garðabær warehouse for rapid delivery.

This initiative represents a significant expansion of convenience for shoppers, promising delivery in under an hour, seven days a week. Customers can access the service through the Wolt app or website.

Service Details and Membership Benefits

A key feature of the new delivery service is that customers are not required to hold a Costco membership to place orders. However, existing Costco members can still benefit from lower prices by entering their membership number during the checkout process to unlock member-only deals.

The product range available for delivery is extensive, encompassing bulk items, fresh food, household essentials, electronics, and personal care products. Deliveries can include all merchandise, including frozen items, though alcohol orders are restricted to Silver Card holders.

A Strategic European Partnership

This collaboration between Wolt and Costco in Iceland is notable as it marks the first time Costco has partnered with Wolt in Europe for such a service. A similar trial is also underway in Sweden, suggesting potential for wider expansion of this model across the continent. Jóhann Már Helgason, Head of Commercial for Wolt Iceland, emphasized the synergy of the partnership, stating it combines 'the great value and variety that Costco offers with the speed and convenience of Wolt delivery'.

Wolt, which expanded its operations to Iceland in 2023 and was acquired by DoorDash in 2022, continues to grow its presence in the market. Costco itself has a strong foothold in Iceland, having opened its first and only branch in the country in May 2017, which quickly gained significant popularity among the Icelandic population.

Enhanced Convenience for Icelandic Consumers

The introduction of Costco delivery by Wolt is expected to further enhance convenience for Icelandic consumers, providing easy access to Costco's diverse product offerings without the need to visit the physical warehouse. This development reflects the ongoing trend of increasing demand for on-demand delivery services in the region.

This just encourages more impulse buying. Bad for budgets.

Love Wolt, love Costco. Perfect partnership!

While the no-membership option is a clever move to attract new customers, the delivery fees will likely negate any savings for non-members.

More delivery vans clogging up our streets. Not ideal.

It's great for convenience, especially with bulk items, but I worry about the environmental impact of so many individual deliveries.
