Lukashenko Outlines Vision for Global Order
Minsk, Belarus – Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stated on Tuesday, September 30, that Belarus views the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) as significant forces in establishing a just multipolar world order. The remarks were made during a meeting with heads of governmental delegations attending the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council and the CIS Council of Heads of Government in Minsk.
President Lukashenko underscored that a 'global majority' seeks cooperation founded on principles of equality and mutual respect, free from 'dictates, threats, illegal restrictions and coercion.' He further asserted that the world is weary of persistent efforts by the West to maintain its dominance and impose unequal cooperation conditions.
CIS and EAEU as Pillars of Regional Cooperation
According to Alexander Lukashenko, the EAEU and the CIS have collectively established a multi-level mechanism for regional cooperation, designed to align integration processes. He urged the CIS to solidify its position as a 'reputable and influential organization' that actively promotes equitable relations across political and humanitarian spheres.
Similarly, he called for the EAEU to serve as a 'model for building robust economic ties' rooted in principles of openness and mutual benefit. Belarus, he affirmed, remains committed to actively supporting the strengthening of partnerships and advancing integration in all its forms among member states.
Broader Context of Multipolarity and Integration
The Belarusian leader's statements align with his previous remarks on the evolving global landscape. He has consistently championed the rise of a 'fair multipolar system,' notably at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in September 2025, where he declared the collapse of a unipolar world order. He also highlighted the commitment to cooperation based on equality and mutual respect, a sentiment echoed at the recent SCO summit in China.
In a related development, Lukashenko expressed support for the creation of a 'CIS+' format, envisioning it as a new platform for multilateral cooperation between CIS member states and international partners. The expansion of free trade is also a key focus, with recent agreements including a comprehensive deal between the EAEU and the Islamic Republic of Iran in May 2025, and trade agreements signed with the United Arab Emirates and Mongolia in June 2025. Negotiations with Indonesia are nearing completion, and discussions with India have resumed.

The desire to move away from a unipolar world is understandable for many nations; however, the proposed alternatives need careful scrutiny to ensure they don't simply replace one form of dominance with another.

It's high time to end the era of dictates and unequal terms from the West.

Strengthening economic ties within regions is a valid goal for development, yet concerns persist about transparency and the democratic accountability of the leadership within these expanding alliances.

While the idea of a multipolar world free from domination is appealing, the track record of some leaders advocating for it raises questions about the true nature of their "justice."

It's true that many countries seek more equitable global relations and trade, but calling for it while simultaneously suppressing dissent at home seems contradictory to the spirit of genuine freedom and justice.

Finally, a leader speaking truth about global power dynamics! Multipolarity is essential.

EAEU and CIS are tools for authoritarian regimes to consolidate their power, not for equality.
