Israeli Airstrikes Kill Two in Lebanon, Targeting Bekaa Valley and Southern Regions

Deadly Strikes Hit Lebanese Regions

On Monday, September 29, 2025, Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left at least one person injured. The attacks targeted an excavator in the eastern Bekaa Valley and a water tanker in southern Lebanon, according to reports from the Lebanese Health Ministry. These strikes occurred despite a ceasefire agreement that has been in effect since November 2024.

Details of Targeted Locations and Casualties

One of the fatal strikes occurred in the town of Sohmor, located in the eastern Bekaa Valley. An Israeli drone targeted an excavator there, killing one person. Lebanese media outlets identified the deceased as the excavator's driver. The Israeli military, however, later identified the individual killed in Sohmor as Muhammad Abbas Sha'shua, claiming he was a Hezbollah artillery officer responsible for the group's artillery capabilities in the area.

A separate strike hit a water tanker in Nabatieh al-Fawqa, a town in southern Lebanon's Nabatieh Governorate, killing another person. Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA) identified this victim as Mohammad Hussein Yassin from the village of Kafr Tebnit. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that Yassin was a senior member of Hezbollah's artillery unit in the Beaufort Castle area, involved in bringing arms south of the Litani River in contravention of the ceasefire.

Additionally, a strike in the southern Lebanese town of Aitaroun resulted in one injury. The IDF claimed this strike targeted 'Hezbollah weapon depots' in Aitaroun, though they did not offer evidence to support this allegation.

Ceasefire Violations and Conflicting Accounts

The Lebanese Health Ministry reported the casualties without specifying if the deceased were civilians or combatants. However, some reports indicated that the attacks appeared to target civilian infrastructure. These incidents mark a continuation of Israeli military actions in Lebanon, which Israel states are aimed at Hezbollah operatives or sites, despite the ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States and France. This ceasefire, which came into effect on November 27, 2024, was intended to end clashes that erupted following the war in the Gaza Strip.

Lebanese authorities have consistently reported Israeli violations of the ceasefire since its implementation. The latest strikes underscore the persistent tensions and the fragile nature of the truce between Israel and Hezbollah in the region.

While Israel has legitimate security concerns regarding Hezbollah, striking what appear to be civilian vehicles raises serious questions about proportionality. The ceasefire is clearly not holding from either side.

Trust the IDF's intelligence. These were military targets, not random civilians.

Both Hezbollah's alleged activities south of the Litani and Israel's retaliatory strikes are clear breaches of the ceasefire agreement. Until both parties genuinely commit to de-escalation and transparency, these tragic incidents will continue.

Finally, some real action against Hezbollah. Israel has every right to defend itself.

They always claim 'Hezbollah operatives' without proof. It's a tired excuse for aggression.
