Woman Charged Following Alleged Knife-Point Bank Robbery Attempt in Sydney's Kingsgrove

Alleged Robbery Attempt in Kingsgrove

A 38-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged attempted armed robbery at a Commonwealth Bank branch in Kingsgrove, Sydney. The incident unfolded on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, shortly after 10 am, when police were called to the bank on Kingsgrove Road.

Authorities allege the woman entered the bank armed with a knife, which she reportedly used to threaten staff and demand money. Security camera footage reportedly captured the woman earlier stealing two knives from a nearby dollar shop before proceeding to the bank.

Swift Police Response and Arrest

Officers from the St George Police Area Command responded quickly to the scene. They successfully apprehended the woman inside the bank without incident. Reports indicate that the proximity of the bank to a police training facility may have contributed to the rapid three-minute response time. Two knives were seized from the woman upon her arrest.

Fortunately, no customers or bank employees sustained any injuries during the alleged robbery attempt.

Charges Laid and Court Appearance

Following her arrest, the woman was transported to Kogarah Police Station where she was formally charged with multiple offences. These include:

  • Robbery armed with offensive weapon
  • Shoplifting
  • Demand property with menaces with intent to steal
She was refused bail and was scheduled to appear before Sutherland Local Court on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

The efficiency of the police in this situation is undeniable, preventing a potentially dangerous outcome. However, to truly tackle crime, we must look beyond immediate arrests and investigate the societal factors contributing to such desperate behavior.

Stealing knives from a dollar shop? This sounds more like a cry for help than a master plan.
