A 34-year-old Danish tourist has tragically died in Marbella, Spain, after being discovered floating face down in a private swimming pool. The incident, which occurred last Friday evening, September 12, in a residential development in Nueva Andalucía, is being investigated as an accidental death following a head injury.

Circumstances Surrounding the Death

The tourist was found by a friend, who immediately raised the alarm. Reports indicate that the two friends had been spending the day together, and had apparently consumed alcohol and narcotic substances. They had reportedly 'snuck into the swimming pool to dive, swim and fool around' prior to the incident. Local residents reportedly heard playful noises turn into shouts for help as one of the men attempted to revive his friend. Medical services were promptly mobilized to the scene but could only confirm the Danish tourist's death. Due to a visible bleeding wound on the victim's head, authorities could not immediately certify it as a natural death.

Investigation Concludes Accidental Nature

Following the discovery, the friend was initially detained by police. However, after preliminary investigations and an initial autopsy, the friend was released without charge. The investigating magistrate at Marbella's court ruled that there was insufficient evidence to hold anyone responsible for the death. Initial autopsy results have pointed to 'death resulting from an accidental incident at the facility,' leading to the provisional closure of the case. The High Court of Justice of Andalucía (TSJA) confirmed that no travel bans were imposed on the friend, as there were no grounds to suspect foul play. While the official autopsy report is still pending, current findings strongly suggest an unfortunate accident.
